What is Where There's Smoke?

It's the podcast that changes with you.

Where There's Smoke started as a labor of love from two avid podcast listeners - Brett and Nick - who wanted to use their pop culture addictions to create a narrative, NPR-style show that invites listeners (and themselves) to change. WTS is never the same show twice: each episode is designed from the ground up to entertain and educate.

The show combines the relevancy of The Daily Show, the storytelling of This American Life, the science of RadioLab, and the honesty of a personal journal. The finished product is a meticulously crafted and entertaining mashup of audio clips, quotes, concepts, and conversations. The goal of Where There’s Smoke is to challenge the way we interpret our environment so that we can make informed decisions on how to be better people, live better lives, and build a better world.

Brett Gajda

WRITER & HOST

Voted "Most likely to replace Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show" in high school and "Most likely to date Scarlett Johansson" in his own mind, Brett has been described as having "the voice of a nerdy sex-god!" When not pouring his heart, soul, and brain into Where There's Smoke, Brett is a professional speaker/trainer who helps organizations and individuals be their best. Learn more at www.BrettGajda.com

Nick Jaworski

PRODUCER & EDITOR

Keeper of the edit, reluctant Celine Dion fan, and avid Netflix watcher. Nick is probably best known to WTS fans as the inventor of BrettBot 2000. He is also convinced that Brett wrote the iTunes review that he quotes in his bio. In his free time, Nick runs Podcast Monster, a full-service audio production company that produces podcasts, audio books, and other content for businesses and individuals.

Theresa Ward

After binge-listening to WTS in 2016, Theresa reached out to Brett to help plan an Atlanta Listener Meetup. That serendipitous evening (while playing the role of designated driver), she could tell Brett and the WTS team desperately needed her babysitting, err… taskmaster, err… project organizational skills to take this podcast to the next level. When not nerding out on podcasts, Theresa is a freelance productivity and communications consultant. She is best known as the team member that sounds most like a chipmunk. She hopes Brett & Nick continue to believe that her ability to organize a vision into manageable bite-size steps is actual sorcery.

Kristen McMullen

Kristen is unsure what she does for this collaborative endeavour. Mostly, she edits, writes and makes sense of the marbles that fall out of people’s mouths. It’s possible that the whole thing would fall to pieces without Kristen. Her work with at-risk and high-needs youth have prepared her well for the likes of Brett and Nick, and is probably why she has gravitated to WTS… from a distance… like, from the rocky mountains of Canada…

Dylan Davis

Dylan can almost find anything interesting and is a true creature of habit. Including, but not limited to: reader, moviegoer, fitness fanatic, podcast addict & lover of comfy coffee shops. During the day he is labeled as an innovator for the “too big to fail” banks, by advising on how to be less old school and a little more savvy with future tech strategies. Catch him (if you can) on the socials!
